Admission Requirements at DSE
DeGesh School of Entrepreneurship (DSE) welcomes applications from individuals who wish to improve their professional knowledge, practical skills, employability, and career development through our professional courses. Admission decisions are based on the applicant’s age, educational background, work experience, English language ability, course suitability, and any sector-specific requirements. DSE is committed to widening access to professional learning while ensuring that learners are enrolled on courses appropriate to their experience, learning needs, and career goals. To ensure that all applicants have the best learning experience, we have outlined the general admission requirements applicable to our courses.
General Admission Requirements
To be eligible for any course at DSE, applicants must meet the following general criteria:
- Age Requirement
- Applicants must be 16 years or older for most diploma courses.
- Some programs, particularly Access to Higher Education Diplomas, may require applicants to be 18 years or older.
- Educational Background
- A secondary or high school certificate (or equivalent qualification).
- Professional or vocational certificates.
- English Language Proficiency
- Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.
- No formal English test is required; however, students must demonstrate competence in English to participate in coursework and assessments.
- Identification Documents
- A valid passport or national identification card must be provided during the application process.
Admission Requirements for Short Professional Courses
Admission to short professional courses is generally open to learners who wish to improve their knowledge, develop practical skills, enhance employability, or meet professional development needs. Therefore, the applicants are expected to meet up with the above-mentioned general admission requirements.
Admission Requirements for Intermediate Professional Courses
Admission to Level 3, 4 and 5 Diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework is based on the learner’s academic background, professional experience, English language ability, career goals, and ability to complete the required assessments. Therefore, the applicants are expected to meet up with the above-mentioned general admission requirements and the following:
Level 3 Diplomas
- Working experience.
- Personal statement. Where the applicant demonstrates basic knowledge or interest in the chosen subject area and ability to study independently with tutor support.
Level 4 Diplomas
- Holding a Level 3 qualification, such as a Level 3 Diploma, A levels, Access to HE Diploma, advanced apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Relevant work experience where required by the course.
- Personal statement. Where the applicant demonstrates ability to complete assignments, case studies, reports, presentations, reflective writing or work-based tasks and show readiness for higher-level independent learning independently with tutor support.
Level 5 Diplomas
- Holding a Level 4 qualification, such as a Level 4 Diploma, Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent.
- Having relevant professional, supervisory, technical or management experience
Recognition of Prior Learning
DSE may consider Recognition of Prior Learning for applicants who have relevant previous qualifications, training, employment experience or professional development. This may help determine whether the learner is suitable for Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5 study.
